This sacrament of Baptism is named after the central rite by which it is carried out: to baptize (Greek baptizein) means to "plunge" or "immerse"; the "plunge" into the water symbolizes the catechumen's burial into Christ's death, from which he rises up by resurrection with him, as "a new creature." (Catechism 1214)
Baptisms can be scheduled during any weekend liturgy or after the final Sunday Mass.
No baptisms are Scheduled during Mass during Lent or Advent.
Adult Baptisms are celebrated in conjunction with the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) and are celebrated primarily at the Easter Vigil.
Registered parishioners wishing to have their child baptized within St. Mary Magdalene Parish Family are required to first attend a baptism program.
